And so, the end is near...

I've moved. Well, not literally. But blog-wise.

You can find me now at gmonkey4008.livejournal.com for similar ramblings to this ol' blog.

There's a catch though. It's friend's only, so if you want to read it (hah!) then you'll have to have a livejournal acccount yourself AND you'll have to add me as a friend on there. I might (read: probably will) accept you.

That's pretty much it. I'm sad this blog has slowly but surely came to a earth shattering halt but I've actually been doing what normal people do and have been 'outside' far more in the past year than in recent times.

There might be an odd update on this thing. I wouldn't hold your breath though.

If anyone still reads this then I love you. Probably.

current music: menomena - weird

it's been a while since my last update. oh well.

i've done stuff, haven't done stuff, hung out, not hung out, drank, not drank, gone out, stayed in, bought stuff, not bought stuff.

that about covers it.

i think i passed everything in semester 1 which is bitchin'. just started semester 2 and all the coursework. fuck.

oh and i've had flu. menomena are getting me through. why will we probably never hear british bands doing anything as exciting as this? because british indie is fucking disgraceful and appallingly wank.

The Lawrence Arms - The Devil's Takin' Names

Merry Christmas to anyone that still reads this.

It's about 6pm on the big day and I'm kinda bored, still don't feel very festive at all. I feel agitated but I don't really know why. Whatever.

I bought myself most of the stuff I wanted before Christmas came (xbox 360, games for it, CDs I wanted, few clothes) but I did get other bits and pieces too.
I got:
Xbox 360 second wireless controller
Boxers and socks (it wouldn't be Christmas without these)
Shower gel, shampoo, deodorant etc. (ditto above)
A new razor and shaving foam (I can infact grow facial hair now, a pitiful amount but still. I'm NINETEEN)
Interactive DVD Sudoku game (WHY?! Fuck knows why Mum got me that)
A watch (it's pretty smart but I don't know if I suit watches)
Shot glasses and drinking game.
Arrested Development Series 1 & 2 DVDs (ta Candice)
Manchester United Wine Gums (hah)
A selection box.
two pairs of AMERICAN jeans. (Mum bought them when she went to New York for shopping)
An AMERICAN t-shirt.
An AMERICAN zip-up hoody. (the zip is on the WRONG side)
ONE HUNDRED ENGLISH POUNDS (50 from Welsh Grandparents, 25 from English Grandparents and 25 from Brother)

That looks like LOADS written down but it isn't really. I don't mean for that to sound ungrateful, I am very thankful for all of my stuff but in comparison to what a lot of other people got it isn't much, NOT THAT I'M COMPLAINING (just to reiterate). I'm very pleased actually.

It's weird not having any CDs this Christmas. But then again, I do tend to buy them for myself anyway. Speaking of which, MY RECORD COLLECTION is nearing the one hundred mark, which is pretty startling considering I bought my first CD about two years ago (I was a filthy pirate before).

I'm pretty content overall, I just want today to hurry up and finish so I can go out and be a stupid drunk tomorrow.

To finish, here is my Nan's Jack Russell, IN DOG CLOTHES.

Highlight of my Christmas Day.

I'll do a review of music for this year sometime soon too. Great.

Hope you all had a good one.

The Mountain Goats - Going To Georgia

Since my last update I've accumulated LOTS of Uni work, of which I've done very little. I'll manage to wing it somehow.

I also have a girlfriend. She is quite brilliant.

That's pretty much it.

Brand New - Degausser

Things are pretty damn good at the moment. I've got little niggly things like Uni work and stuff but NONE OF THAT MATTERS. The good outweighs the bad at present, so I'm generally all smiles inside.

The new Brand New album is pretty incredible. I was all like 'Hmmm' when I first heard it but after half a dozen listens it's grown on me a lot. Give it a few weeks and I'm sure I'll love it. Degausser is slowly becoming one of my favourite songs of the year and Sowing Season is a stonker of an album opener.

Also, new Bloc Party doesn't disappoint either. Hunting For Vampires is a tune and the gentler songs at the arse-end of the album are nice and chilled out, especially Sunday.

I watched series 1 and 2 of Peep Show last week and it's piss funny, Mark is absolutely hilarious. I've also started to rewatch ALL of Scrubs, so that's immaculate.

Cinema wise, I've seen Borat (funniest film I've ever seen at the cinema), Saw III (Hmm, it was alright) and The Prestige (awesome. One of my favourite films this year). I'm going to see Tenacious D and The Pick Of Destiny soon. Awes.

Going home soon for the weekend, getting my haircut. Then it's not long til the Christmas break and HOLIDAY. Yes. Then I'm going to be a proper busy twat in 2007.

January 20th - A Wilhelm Scream @ Wedgewood Rooms
January 27th - Bloc Party @ Southampton Guildhall
February 5th Brand New @ Southampton Guildhall

I'm tempted to go see Cute Is What We Aim For, but not to see them because they are hilariously bad. But Hit The Lights are supporting, seeing them at the Wedge would be top of the proverbial drawer.

Oh and I'll have lots of exams and projects to hand in. Fuck offfffff.

Plus 44 - Baby Come On

For some reason, this was saved as a draft and wasn't posted. It was the weekend before Halloween for those that care.

Anyway, I went home a few weekends ago and it was a bit "oh, i wish i stayed at bloomin' Uni" filled. Friday was just a complete day of rest, which, because of travellizzing, culminated in me sleeping from 4pm til 9pm - officially the longest nap I've had in one day. Cack by proper sleeper standards, but I'll take a PB on anything any day of the week. Went to watch Coleford play football with homie Ob which was pretty funs and then bustled out to the pub for a drunken gathering of friends on Old Rob's birthday. He's 50! Gutted.

It was alright, although everyone went home quite early and we needlessly walked home. John Rubbish.

Anyway, Sunday was spent watching TEE VEE whilst feeling hella hungedover. Went for a pub lunch afterwards and made one pint last two hours. KING. Then got a train home from Westbury which was wack. The train was TWO carriages and was jam pizzacked with people and there were about 50 of us waiting to get on, so I had to wait another hour to get the next train. Balls. Got back to Uni eventually at 7ish and watched Scrubs til I fell asleep.

ALSO

Lots of other stuffs has happened, Hallowizzle, Firewerkz and lots of drunken japery in between. It's been hella good as Gwen'd say.

Here's me on Halloween.. (I was Quasimodo but you can't really see my hump well in the pic)

Brand New - Sowing Season (Yeah)

I went to see Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly! tonight at the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth. The venue itself was really impressive, capacity was about 400 which meant it was nice and small, and even though it was sold out, it wasn't stupidly packed. I was a fan.

Keith were on first. They were pretty bland if I'm honest. I was left waiting for each song to finish as they seemed to drag a fair bit and were a tad repetitious. Ah well.

Second support, Dartz! were really really good. I was extremely impressed by them, very nice poppy dancey music, complete with WOO'S from the singer. Aces.

Mr Duckworth (he of Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly! fame) was nothing short of superb. I felt that the crowd were a tad unresponsive and only a handful of people sang along or seemed to actually be enjoying themselves. I very nearly punched a pair of girls in their heads because they insisted on talking through EVERY song, which is infuriating when it's fairly acousticy music. Stupid bitches. Apart from that though, I had a ball. Hopefully I'll get to return to the Wedgewood Rooms again soon for another gig.

Uni is generally going well, I'm going back home this weekend for the first time since I got here (been here a month now, crazy!)

I'm pretty much the happiest I've been for a long while. Hooray!
